What's the Ek Cup Garam Chai story?
Auditor in the morning 📊, Baker in the evening 👩🍳
Hi, I'm Yasmeen and the Baker behind Ek Cup Garam Chai. I'm not a professional Baker by training (quite the opposite actually, I'm a boring ol' Accountant!), but what with my incessant stress baking habits continuing till date since the '80s, I know just as much about the nit-bits of quality baking as someone with full-fledged culinary school experience.
When I was in college, I would bake cakes on birthdays of dear friends and roommates. As I got older, my new diners became my five little children, all ruthlessly sweet-toothed and deliciously fond of my baked goodies.
Now that I've been working as an Auditor for almost three decades, I sometimes craved the floury freedom that baking offered me. I love mixing ingredients and watching them plump out in dimly lit ovens. I dearly missed the scents of brownies and cupcakes that would waft all over our apartment floor whenever I was baking - everyone could tell Yasmeen was creating something delicious in her quaint kitchen!
My children finally convinced me to start baking again, and this time not only for themselves (ah, these freeloaders!), but to sell them on this thing called Instagram. It has been a wonderfully rewarding year of selling tea cakes, halwas and mini delights on Instagram, and I have loved every second of it. If you all continue to show me the love that you have over the past year, I aim to continue with this passion project until my hair is all white and snowy, and beyond! <3
